I have always wanted to create a beautiful Christmas ornament inspired by the Australian landscape and this is her. Her name is ‘Betty' and she was designed and inspired from a young koala I met and photographed after the devastating bushfires of 2020.

‘Betty’ the baby koala has been made in collaboration with renowned Brisbane ceramic studio paper boat press, handmade by my dear friend ceramic artist Kylie Johnson. Kylie worked from my photograph of ‘Betty’ and brought this sentimental and much loved Christmas ornament to life. A pink flowering gum blossom collar was added to make Betty extra cute and a nod to the unique Australian bush where she and her friends live.

Each handmade ceramic ornament has been made from Australian earthenware clay with a gloss glaze and has been individually hand painted in Kylie’s Brisbane studio. 

‘Betty’ is a limited release and comes ready to hang on grey silk ribbon. I hope she brings you much love and joy as she sits within your Christmas tree this year.

Proceeds from ‘Betty the Koala’ and ‘Baby Kangaroo’ Tea Towel will be donated to help their bush friends who also find themselves orphaned or injured and need care.
